Klymit incorporated in April 2007 and was founded by R. Nathan Alder, who currently serves as its CEO. While scuba diving in Brazil, Nate learned that divers use noble gases in dry suits to enable them to say under frigid waters longer, for example, Scandinavian diving engineers working on Arctic and North Sea oil rigs use noble gases in their dry suits. As a snowboard instructor and avid outdoor enthusiast, Nate thought to himself, “Why can’t this concept be leveraged in other industries needing better insulation capabilities?” From that point, Nate began recruiting a team that could build a product and a business around this idea. His goal for the company: Become the world-leader in noble gas technology.
The Klymit technology allows users to adjust the amount of insulation in their product at the turn of a dial. Not only is the gas-based insulation the only adjustable insulation on the market, but it is also 5x warmer than current fabric insulation, and it is thinner and lighter than anything else. Klymit has plans to introduce its technology in a number of products ranging from ski jackets and boots to military uniforms and camping equipment.
The company has already received a warm industry reception, with industry leaders dubbing Klymit technology, “The Holy Grail of Insulation.” With its Game-Changing Technology, Klymit is transforming the world of insulation and is interested in partners who share the vision for a Klymit-Kontrolled outdoor experience. Isn’t it about time You Kontrolled the Elements?
