Klymit Sleep Outside series - Caroline favorite trip to blue lake and Rockville/Mesa Trailhead

Where:  Caprock Canyon State Park- Haynes Ridge Overlook Trail and North Prong Loop

Length + Difficulty (Hike or backpacking trip):
 6.5 mile hike- difficult

Best time:
Not in the middle of the summer (like when I went)

Brief Summary:  If you want to get the difficult section out of the way first, take the trail clockwise for the uphill rock scramble toward the beginning. After that, you make it to the top of the ridge for some great views and a relatively even hike. Make sure to stop along the way at Fern Cave for a little oasis in the desert.

What to bring:
sunscreen, plenty of water, a camera, snacks

Any Klymit Gear Recommendations:
Mystic 20L Hydration Pack

Klymit KLymaloft Sleeping Pad

Gear:
 Horizon Backpacking Blanket

Top three features:
Water resistant, included stuff sack, perfect weight

Best for:  when it’s too hot for a sleeping bag (95% of the time in Texas)

Deconstructed Spring roll camp recipe

Name: Quesadillas

Ingredients:
Tortillas (I like corn)
Shredded Cheese
Shredded Chicken
Whatever else you want to add:
Beans
Tomatoes
Avocado
Etc.

Recipe: I like to use a camp stove, heat up your skillet to medium heat and add your tortilla, sprinkle some cheese, add some chicken, sprinkle a little more cheese, and add another tortilla. Let the cheese melt, then flip it to the other side and let it melt some more. Then take it out and voila.
