SIERRA

Cecret Lake Trail in Alta, Utah

Little Cottonwood Canyon is extraordinarily beautiful in the fall. Alta, UT is a great town to explore at the top of the canyon. Cecret Lake Trail is 1.7 miles out and back and is good for all ability levels. I recommend going early in the morning or later in the evening to avoid the crowds. There isn't a lot of shade along the shore of the lake, so remember a hat and sunglasses!

CORY

Mt. Timpanogos, Utah

This is a fantastic challenging hike for anyone that wants beautiful scenery and waterfalls along the trail with an epic view of the Utah County valley at the top of the mountain. Coming from the Aspen Grove sides is more steep and challenging but remarkably beautiful and includes a stop by Emerald lake and a view of the glacier on the way to the top. It is also very common to see mountain goats and other critters. If you time it right in August you’ll see the flowers bloom. Round trip it is a 14 mile hike and can be done in one day or break it up and sleep over night. If you leave at midnight you can be at the peak for sunrise which is a must do for your bucket list.

MATT B.

Silver Falls State Park near Silverton, Oregon

It's a 7 mile loop of 10 different waterfalls, and this time of year the leaves are changing. It's pretty amazing and a kid friendly hike.

MATT C

Green Pond Trail, Utah

Green Pond Trail off of Trappers Loop above Mountain Green... Usually a pretty busy trail, but it's only about 1.5 miles up to a pretty little pond and then 1.5 miles back. Fall colors in this area are spectacular. This pic is looking south across I-84 from Mountain Green.

Matt M.

Wasatch Mountains, Utah

Anywhere in the Wasatch mountains during the fall. It is hard to pick a specific trail but I love getting out often in the fall to love the fall air and see the changing leaves. I have a few trails just minutes from my house that are perfect running/biking/hiking trails but also love mill creek canyon, park city trails.

DEB

Pemigewasset Wilderness, New Hampshire

What: 30 miles round trip. Hiking multiple mountains (9 total) over 4k elevation (tall for the East coast, starting at sea level 😝)

Why: Gorgeous fall foliage, possibility for blueberries, possibility to extend the trip and find isolation. It was my first backpacking trip and my first solo backpacking trip. Good memories! 😊

BRIAN

Pheasant Branch Trail in Middleton, WI

Can take multiple paths and get a different experience each time (along a creek, up/down hills, or find scenic overlooks). Mostly covered by trees-keeping the wind out during the chillier days.
