Insulated Static V Lite™ Sleeping Pad
Description
The Insulated Static V Lite™ delivers exceptional comfort and insulation for minimal weight. The V shaped chambers minimize air movement and are filled with light, warm Klymalite™ synthetic insulation for thermal performance in winter conditions. The ergonomic design and dynamic side rails cushion and cradle the body for a better night’s sleep. Advanced ultralight materials and smart construction shed grams without impacting performance, making this a versatile choice that handles for winter ski tours, summer backpacking and all season adventure.
FEATURES
- Body Mapping Technology: Our specially developed V-shaped design delivers superior support and comfort no matter how you sleep – on your side, stomach or back
- Side Rails: Integrated into the patterning and construction, side rails help provide a secure, comfortable sleep by centering you on the pad and inhibiting air movement while tossing and turning
- Deep Weld Patterning: Unlike traditional pads that flatten the bag’s fill, Deep Welds create expansion zones that allow your bag to fully loft beneath you for improved thermal comfort
- Twist-Pull Valve: Secure and simple, our valve allows for inflation in as few as 10 breaths, and opens wide for rapid, complete deflation. The mechanism creates a secure seal and helps prevent inadvertent opening.
- Pack Size: Exceptionally compact, the 5”x8” pack size is tiny compared to closed-cell foam or self-inflating pads with the same footprint, R-Value and thickness

SLEEPING PAD FAQ'S
ASTM / R-Values
Maintenance & Care
Seasonality
What is an R-Value, and why does it matter for sleeping pads?
The R-Value measures a sleeping pad's insulation ability, specifically how well it resists heat loss to the ground. A higher R-Value means better warmth and comfort, making it essential for cold-weather camping.
What does the ASTM standard mean for sleeping pad R-Values?
ASTM F3340-18 is the industry-standard test used to measure a pad’s R-Value. It ensures consistent, reliable results across brands, helping you compare pads and choose the right one for your needs. While not all Klymit sleeping pads have been tested to this standard yet, we are actively working through the process to provide ASTM-rated R-Values across our lineup.
How does the ASTM standard apply to Klymit pads?
While ASTM testing provides a standardized way to compare sleeping pad insulation, it does not always account for the unique design of Klymit pads. Many Klymit sleeping pads feature deep V-chamber welds, which are specifically engineered to trap and insulate air pockets beneath your sleeping bag. This design enhances warmth by reducing convective heat loss and working in tandem with your sleep system, often outperforming its ASTM-rated R-Value in real-world conditions. As a result, traditional R-Value testing may not fully reflect the insulation benefits experienced when using Klymit pads in the field.
Understanding Klymit Historical R-Values
Klymit has always prioritized real-world performance when designing sleeping pads, ensuring that all our pads provide four-season usability. Historically, we have used our own rigorous in-house testing methods to determine R-Values, reflecting how our unique V-chamber and Body Mapping™ designs work in tandem with a sleeping bag to maximize warmth.
With the adoption of the ASTM F3340-18 standard, we now display two R-Values on certain pads—our original Klymit R-Value and the ASTM-rated R-Value—where applicable. This helps provide additional transparency while recognizing that ASTM testing does not always fully capture the insulation benefits of our pad designs. Some pads may only display a single ASTM R-Value as we work through the testing process, but rest assured, every Klymit pad is engineered for year-round performance in all conditions.
By considering both values, you can make an informed decision about the best pad for your adventures, knowing that Klymit sleeping pads are built to keep you comfortable in any season.
What R-Value do I need for different camping conditions?
- R-Value 1–2: Ideal for summer camping.
- R-Value 2–4: Great for spring and fall temperatures.
- R-Value 4.5+: Necessary for winter camping and cold weather.
How do I clean my sleeping pad?
To clean your sleeping pad, wipe it down with a mild soap and warm water using a soft cloth or sponge. Avoid submerging it in water or using harsh chemicals. Let it air dry completely before storing.
How should I store my sleeping pad when not in use?
Store your sleeping pad unrolled and partially inflated in a cool, dry place. Keeping it flat or loosely folded helps maintain the pad’s shape and prolong its lifespan.
What should I do if my sleeping pad gets a puncture?
If your sleeping pad gets a puncture, use our repair kit to patch the hole. Clean and dry the area, then apply the adhesive patch provided in the kit. Allow it to cure fully before reinflating.
Which sleeping pad is best for summer camping?
For summer camping, choose a sleeping pad with an R-Value between 1 and 2. These pads provide lightweight comfort without excessive insulation, keeping you cool during warmer nights.
What type of sleeping pad do I need for colder weather?
For spring and fall conditions, an R-Value between 2 and 4 works well. For winter camping or cold weather, look for an R-Value of 4.5 or higher to stay insulated and warm.
Can I use the same sleeping pad year-round?
Yes, a sleeping pad with a higher R-Value (4.5+) can work year-round. It provides insulation for cold seasons but can still be comfortable in warmer weather by managing heat loss effectively.
