Description

Experience next-level comfort with the Insulated Static V™ Peak — built for adventurers who demand extra warmth. This lightweight, backcountry-ready pad provides winter insulation and true four-season performance with an impressive ASTM R-Value of 4.2. Multiple reflective film layers and Klymalite™ synthetic insulation work together to block cold from below, while dynamic side rails keep you securely centered for a deeper, more restful sleep. When it’s time to pack up, it rolls down small for easy carry anywhere your adventure takes you. As part of the Peak Series, this pad is engineered for experienced adventurers who demand the highest level of warmth, refinement, and four-season performance.

FEATURES
  • V-Chamber Body Mapping: The patented V-shaped body mapping design provides consistent support and comfort in any sleep position—side, stomach, or back. It adapts to your body for a more restful night outdoors
  • 4-Season Insulation: Klymalite™ synthetic insulation is lightweight, compressible, and durable. It slows air transfer between the top and bottom of the pad to improve thermal performance in cold conditions
  • Centering Rails: Side rails are built into the pad’s structure to help keep you centered while you sleep. They also reduce air movement, minimizing
    disruptions from tossing and turning
  • Deep Weld Zones: Deep weld patterning creates expansion zones that allow your sleeping bag to fully loft beneath you. This enhances thermal comfort compared to traditional flat pads
  • Flip Valve: A simple, efficient valve design allows for quick inflation—often in as few as 10 breaths—and opens wide for rapid, complete deflation when it’s time to pack up
  • Patch Kit: A compact field-ready patch kit is included for quick, reliable repairs, ensuring you’re prepared for unexpected punctures or wear on the trail
  • Peak Series Performance: Built at the pinnacle of Klymit innovation, offering maximum warmth, precision construction, and reliability for serious four-season use

Supportive Body Mapping

The patented V-chamber layout contours to your natural shape, offering balanced support whether you sleep on your side, stomach, or back. Built-in side rails help keep you centered and steady, reducing nighttime shifting for a restful sleep outdoors.

Four-Season Warmth

Multiple reflective layers and Klymalite™ synthetic insulation work together to slow heat loss and block cold air from below. Deep weld zones let your sleeping bag loft fully beneath you, enhancing overall warmth and comfort in colder conditions.

Lightweight Packability

Designed for easy travel, the pad packs down small and sets up quickly with a Flip Valve that inflates in just a handful of breaths and deflates in seconds. A ready-to-use patch kit and protective storage bag ensure you’re prepared for wherever the trail leads.

SLEEPING PAD FAQ'S

ASTM / R-Values

Maintenance & Care

Seasonality

What is an R-Value, and why does it matter for sleeping pads?

The R-Value measures a sleeping pad's insulation ability, specifically how well it resists heat loss to the ground. A higher R-Value means better warmth and comfort, making it essential for cold-weather camping.

What does the ASTM standard mean for sleeping pad R-Values?

ASTM F3340-18 is the industry-standard test used to measure a pad’s R-Value. It ensures consistent, reliable results across brands, helping you compare pads and choose the right one for your needs. While not all Klymit sleeping pads have been tested to this standard yet, we are actively working through the process to provide ASTM-rated R-Values across our lineup.

How does the ASTM standard apply to Klymit pads?

While ASTM testing provides a standardized way to compare sleeping pad insulation, it does not always account for the unique design of Klymit pads. Many Klymit sleeping pads feature deep V-chamber welds, which are specifically engineered to trap and insulate air pockets beneath your sleeping bag. This design enhances warmth by reducing convective heat loss and working in tandem with your sleep system, often outperforming its ASTM-rated R-Value in real-world conditions. As a result, traditional R-Value testing may not fully reflect the insulation benefits experienced when using Klymit pads in the field.

Understanding Klymit Historical R-Values

Klymit has always prioritized real-world performance when designing sleeping pads, ensuring that all our pads provide four-season usability. Historically, we have used our own rigorous in-house testing methods to determine R-Values, reflecting how our unique V-chamber and Body Mapping™ designs work in tandem with a sleeping bag to maximize warmth.

With the adoption of the ASTM F3340-18 standard, we now display two R-Values on certain pads—our original Klymit R-Value and the ASTM-rated R-Value—where applicable. This helps provide additional transparency while recognizing that ASTM testing does not always fully capture the insulation benefits of our pad designs. Some pads may only display a single ASTM R-Value as we work through the testing process, but rest assured, every Klymit pad is engineered for year-round performance in all conditions.

By considering both values, you can make an informed decision about the best pad for your adventures, knowing that Klymit sleeping pads are built to keep you comfortable in any season.

What R-Value do I need for different camping conditions?

  • R-Value 1–2: Ideal for summer camping.
  • R-Value 2–4: Great for spring and fall temperatures.
  • R-Value 4.5+: Necessary for winter camping and cold weather.

How do I clean my sleeping pad?

To clean your sleeping pad, wipe it down with a mild soap and warm water using a soft cloth or sponge. Avoid submerging it in water or using harsh chemicals. Let it air dry completely before storing.

How should I store my sleeping pad when not in use?

Store your sleeping pad unrolled and partially inflated in a cool, dry place. Keeping it flat or loosely folded helps maintain the pad’s shape and prolong its lifespan.

What should I do if my sleeping pad gets a puncture?

If your sleeping pad gets a puncture, use our repair kit to patch the hole. Clean and dry the area, then apply the adhesive patch provided in the kit. Allow it to cure fully before reinflating.

Which sleeping pad is best for summer camping?

For summer camping, choose a sleeping pad with an R-Value between 1 and 2. These pads provide lightweight comfort without excessive insulation, keeping you cool during warmer nights.

What type of sleeping pad do I need for colder weather?

For spring and fall conditions, an R-Value between 2 and 4 works well. For winter camping or cold weather, look for an R-Value of 4.5 or higher to stay insulated and warm.

Can I use the same sleeping pad year-round?

Yes, a sleeping pad with a higher R-Value (4.5+) can work year-round. It provides insulation for cold seasons but can still be comfortable in warmer weather by managing heat loss effectively.
